Celina Jaitley is an Indian actress best known for appearing in Bollywood films. Born 24 November 1981 in Shimla, India she rose through beauty pageants and modeling competitions, winning Miss India in 2001 and finishing fourth at Miss Universe that same year. Her first movie role came in 2003 thriller Janasheen; other appearances were later made in Silsiilay (2005), No Entry(2005) Tom, Dick, & Harry (2006) and Golmaal Returns (2008) as well as Shrimathi by Ravi Kumar in Kannada film making debut.
Celina Jaitley was born in Kabul, Afghanistan to Colonel V.K. Jaitley of the Indian Army and Meeta Jaitley who works as a nurse with them both serving together in Afghanistan as well as India respectively. Celina also has one brother currently serving with them both.
Career
Celina Jaitly started out her career working in marketing at a mobile phone company in Kolkata before making the leap into beauty pageants and winning Femina Miss India 2001 and representing India at Miss Universe where she finished fourth runner up.
Celina made her film debut in 2003 with Feroz Khan’s Janasheen, which achieved moderate success at the Indian box office. However, Celina will star opposite Sunny Deol in Khel.
Celina made her film debut as Preeti, an air hostess, in Khalid Mohamed’s Silsiilay which earned positive reviews. Soon thereafter she appeared in No Entry which proved immensely popular with audiences and in 2006 Deepak Tijori’s Tom Dick Harry comedy as well as Sangeeth Sivan’s Apna Sapna Money Money; two roles which also received high praise.
Celina began her acting career with roles in 2007’s Red: The Dark Side and Suneel Darshan’s comedy Shakalaka Boom Boom. In 2008, she appeared as one of Golmaal Returns supporting characters – which became a financial success – while films released between 2009 and 2010, such as Paying Guests, Accident on Hill Road and Hello Darling did not perform as expected either critically or commercially.
Celina had two lead roles in 2011 films. She appeared in Anees Bazmee’s romantic comedy Thank You, which proved successful despite some negative reviews; as well as Kannada film Shrimathi which was another success commercially.
