Huma Qureshi (Huma Saleem Qureshi) is an Indian actress and model best known for appearing in Hindi and Tamil movies. Born July 28 in New Delhi to Saleem Qureshi (an entrepreneur) and Ameena Qureshi (a homemaker), Huma went on to earn her BA with honors at Gargi College Delhi before venturing into modeling before transitioning into acting through Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) as her debut.

As part of her auditions for Junction, which never materialized, Qureshi relocated to Mumbai in 2008 for auditioning purposes. When her friend suggested auditioning for this film – though ultimately never released – Qureshi decided to appear in Hindustan Unilever commercials for two years, appearing alongside Shah Rukh Khan (Nerolac), Vita Marie (with Saffola Oil and Mederma Cream for Mederma Cream Pear Soap promotion and Samsung Mobile phone ads (with Aamir Khan).

Career

Huma Qureshi made her television commercial debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan for a Samsung mobile phone commercial when Anurag Kashyap informed her he wanted her in his film. Subsequently, Anurag Kashyap Films proposed three film projects featuring Huma. Her first acting performance as Mohsina in the 2012 film Gangs of Wasseypur-Part 1 earned high reviews from audiences and critics alike.

Huma returned as Mohsina after the success of Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1, receiving widespread critical acclaim and favorable reviews for her performance in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana a romantic comedy depicting an ancestral recipe known as Chicken Khurana. This film completed her three-film contract with Anurag Kashyap Films that same year.

Huma debuted as a prostitute opposite Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Sriram Raghavan’s crime thriller Badlapur the following year, alongside Qureshi. That same year she appeared in the collaborative film X: Present Is Past. Additionally, in 2016, White Mammootty shared two roles alongside Huma; unfortunately, most critics gave the movie mixed reviews upon its initial release.
