Yaashika Aannand is an Indian Film Actress and Instagram model best known for her roles in Tamil movies. Born on 4 August 1999 in Punjab, India she made her acting debut in Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru where she played Shruti Shruti; Yaashika later gained more attention for being known for both social media influencer and fashion model status. Career

Aannand began acting after being discovered as an Instagram model. By 14, she had made her acting debut alongside Santhanam for “Inimey Ippadithan”, but unfortunately had to withdraw due to not attending the song shoot. At first, Annand made her theatrical debut in Kavalai Vendam (2016) as a swimming instructor. However, her breakthrough role came in 2016’s Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru; shot on a modest budget but nevertheless winning recognition from audiences worldwide. She later appeared in two Thambi Ramaiah films ”Paadam” (2018) and ‘Maniyaar Kudumbam” (2018), before making her adult comedy film debut with Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu (2018). Filmed in Thailand, the movie featured her alongside Vaibhavi Shandilya and Chandrika Ravi – two actresses who proved highly popular at box offices worldwide. She then appeared in Thambi Ramaiah’s ”Maniyaar Kudumbam” (2018) as well as Annand’s adult comedy film, Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu (2018). Filmed in Thailand, Aannand’s film featured her alongside actresses such as Vaibhavi Shandilya and Chandrika Ravi; it proved successful at the box office. Later that same year she made an appearance in Kamal Haasan’s reality show Bigg Boss Tamil; where Aannand made two guest appearances as part of Season 2. She was offered to appear in the inaugural season but declined, ultimately appearing in 2018’s second season hosted by Kamal Haasan and featuring as Aannand. Although initially approached to appear, Aannand chose not to participate despite receiving several offers to do so. She was eliminated on day 98, finishing fifth place overall and collecting the cash prize of 5 lakhs from winning certain tasks during season two of the premiere program prior to being evicted. Subsequently, Annand was featured as a mentor on Star Vijay’s ‘Jodi Unlimited’ TV show which first aired in 2019. Aannand also made her film debut in 2019’s animated zombie flick ‘Zombie’ as its lead actress; that year was also listed by Chennai Times as a most desirable woman on television. “She won the Best Actress award at the 2021 Las Vegas Independent Film Festival for the film Bestie. “During India’s MeToo Campaign in 2018, Aannand identified herself as a victim. She claimed a director had tried to abuse her by asking for sexual favors in exchange for appearing in his film; Aannand refused and accused the director of harassing her.”

Personal Life

On 24 July 2021, Aannand was involved in a car crash near Chennai that resulted in her suffering serious injuries. Traveling with friends when their vehicle rammed into a divider and fell into an adjacent pit; one of Aannand’s companions died instantly; witnesses speculated that Aannand was speeding and lost control, leading to this tragic event. Aannand has long advocated for female empowerment within society.
