Zareen Khan Career
She made her acting debut on the set of Subhash Ghai Film School production Yuvraj. Salman Khan saw her and decided to cast her in Veer because he thought her charming visage would make an excellent princess in Veer. Following an audition process she was selected for Princess Yashodhara. For this film she acquired eight kilograms to portray an 19th century princess; critics and moviegoers responded positively but Veer received mixed box office returns.
In 2014, Khan made her film debut in Jatt James Bond directed by Rohit Jugraj and starring Gippy Grewal (a Punjabi actor and singer). This Punjabi movie saw Khan portray Lalli, an innocent Punjabi wife; critics lauded her performance with rave reviews for the entire movie; film critic Komal Nahta called each scene featuring Khan “must-watch for its brilliance,” further attesting to her outstanding performance in it.
Zareen Khan co-starred alongside Gautam Rode in 2017 film Aksar 2, which underperformed at the box office. According to Koimoi.com’s Umesh Punwani, Zareen is mostly employed for skin exhibition. Punwani believes she attempts to mimic Emraan Hashmi but this doesn’t work for her and they have moved on from it altogether.
Khan also appeared in Vikram Bhatt’s 2018 horror flick 1921, the fourth installment in his 1920 film series. She later made another cameo appearance as a police officer in Ashok Nanda’s January 2018 action film One Day: Justice Delivered and eventually gave way to Esha Gupta as star; even with its less than stellar reviews, however, One Day: Justice Delivered was still able to recoup its investment and become an “average grosser.”
Zareen Khan made her Telugu film debut with Chanakya, which received mixed reviews and performed poorly at the box office. That same year, she co-starred alongside Gippy Grewal in Dhaka (Punjabi film) with more negative reviews, before signing onto Anshuman Jha’s 2020 project Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhishe Akele as well as performing in other upcoming projects directed by Anshuman Jha.
