Kajol Mukherjee is an esteemed Indian actress known primarily for her roles in Bollywood movies. She first gained attention for playing Simran Singh in 1995’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Born in Mumbai on August 5, 1974 as Kajol Mukherjee, she goes by her nickname Kads among friends. Raised by her maternal grandmother after both of her parents split when she was young, she quickly took an interest in acting and dancing as she developed.

Career
She attended St. Joseph’s Convent School, Panchgani, Maharashtra, India for her school education. At this school she participated in dance competitions and extra-curricular activities before deciding to leave to pursue acting professionally. She made her acting debut in 1992 by playing Radhika in the Bollywood film Bekhudi. Since then, she has made numerous successful films like Baazigar (1993), Karan Arjun (1995), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain (1999), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001), My Name Is Khan (2010) and Dilwale (2015) to name just some. Additionally she appeared in some Tamil films including Minsara Kanavu (1997) and Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 (2017) in addition to appearing as Priya Shruti Verma in Toon pur Ka Super Hero (2010) as Priya Shruti Verma. In 2008, she served as judge on Zee TV’s dance and singing competition show Rock-N-Roll Family.
Controversy
Her 25-year friendship with Karan Johar ended abruptly in 2016, reportedly because the releases of Ajay Devgan’sShivaay and Karan’s AeDilHaiMushkil occurred simultaneously, leading Karan Johar to state publicly: “I no longer have any association with Kajol.” “After 25 years, Kajol and I have had a falling out. Something happened that deeply disturbed me that I will not discuss here because it would not be fair to her or me,” Karan admitted, adding “We no longer speak. Instead, we just acknowledge each other, say hello, and walk past.” However, Kajol made the first move towards reconciliation by liking a post of Karan’s twins Yash and Roohi on social media and inviting Karan to a party where they reconciled
