Madhuri Dixit made her cinematic debut with Rajshri Production’s drama ‘Abodh’ at 17 years old in 1984 when she played lead actress opposite Bengali actor Tapas Paul as lead actor (the drama was set during Independence War era India).
Madhuri Dixit had her most significant year yet in 1990, featuring in nine Indian movies that were all box office failures (Jamai Raja, Sailaab, Jeevan Ek Sanghursh Deewana Mujh Sa Nahi and Maha-Sangram were just five). Kishan Kanhaiya by Rakesh Roshan featured her as its leading actress. Shortly thereafter, she reprised this role opposite Aamir Khan for Dil. Madhuri Dixit played Madhu, an arrogant rich girl who later falls for an underprivileged boy – for this role she won her inaugural Filmfare Award as Best Actress.
Madhuri Dixit’s next release was “Sajan,” co-starring Salman Khan and Dutt. Madhuri Dixit then made her return to crime drama flicks with “Khalnayak”, where she co-starred alongside Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt as the lead actress role. Madhuri Dixit made her film debut with Rahul Rawail’s psychological thriller Anjaam in 1994 and then followed it up later that same year by co-starring opposite Salman Khan in ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun…!’.
